Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council (also called YAC) is a board of representatives from DFYIT clubs across Miami-Dade County. Each representative's purpose is to act as a voice on behalf of their club, assist in DFYIT's strategic planning throughout the school year, and to promote DFYIT to students and faculty at their school and members of their community. Maintaining open lines of communication between clubs and DFYIT staff is also a part of a successful YAC member.

Do you think you have what it takes to be a YAC member? We are looking for members like you that represent the DFYIT organization in an expert fashion and are dedicated to the anti-drug education of peers. Just make sure you meet all the criteria on the following checklist before you apply:

____ 1 letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or community leader stating

what you can bring to our organization as a Youth Advisory Council member.

____ Approval from your school's DFYIT Club Advisor.

____ At least a 2.0 GPA, outstanding school conduct, effort, and attendance.

____ A 1 page essay detailing why you want to participate in the YAC and what you can

bring to the table that will benefit the organization.

____ You must have been an active member of your DFYIT club last year. ("Active" means any member who attended club meetings, was drug tested, and completed 10+ hours of community service)
